The facilities include the Lively Park Swim Center, which has a giant slide, play and lap pools and the northwest's only indoor wave action pool, and a modern Senior Adult Activity Center, as well as more than thirty parks and facilities in the district.

Sharing a boundary with Eugene means that visitors to Springfield have access to the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, featuring world-class entertainment all year. Symphony, ballet, opera, musical theater, small galleries, music of all kinds, nationally known artists, and live theater give visitors and residents a wide range of choices for their leisure activities. Eugene's University of Oregon, a member of the PAC-10 athletic conference, provides a variety of sports events, frequently world-class, for everyone's entertainment during each season.

Shopping experiences in Springfield encompass the amenities of modern malls as well as the personal service of old-time neighborhood stores. Gateway Mall and Valley River Center offer visitors miles of shopping pleasures, and the downtown area and other districts offer customers the relaxed and hometown shopping experience of traditional America.

The Springfield Filbert Festival, held in Willamalane's Island Park, showcases the filbert. Events include jazz and rock music, as well as a battle for best harmonica player during the Northwest Harmonica Championships. The filbert is highlighted in a cookoff, as well as in other delicious foods. Kids will enjoy the activities available in the Nutty Kingdom, as well as the music on the Youth Stage.
