Rice NW Museum of Rocks and Minerals

The Rice NW Museum of Rocks and Minerals showcases an extensive collection of crystallized mineral species. It's a favorite destination for school field trips, where children learn about the many types of mineral treasures at the museum, and even get to pick out their own rock from the outdoor rock and mineral pile. The deceiving plainness of fluorescent rocks in the Rainbow Gallery surprise and delight visitors when their brilliant colors are revealed by ultraviolet light. The "Alma Rose", one of the largest specimens of rhodochrosites found in the world, is housed at the museum. Additional collections include thunder eggs, fossils, meteorites, gypsum, gemstones, quartz, and many examples of petrified wood.

Classes, tours and private events are held on site. The museum is located near Hillsboro, off of Highway 26 on Groveland Drive.
