Oregon's Willamette Valley is a fertile stretch of land with lush fields of crops and thick green forests. Most of Oregon's population lives in this area, which includes Oregon's largest cities and the state capital. Portland is also in the Willamette Valley, but is listed in a region of its own, due to its size. The wide variety of crops grown in this region include grass seed, mint, nursery and landscape plants, nuts, berries, hops and wine grapes. Taking a wine tour, seeing the picturesque covered bridges or visiting farmers' markets is an excellent way to discover the charms of the Willamette Valley.
