Towering forests of Ponderosa pines, snowy Cascade Mountains, pristine rivers, lakes and streams, sun drenched days and star-filled western nights - this is the special beauty of Sisters, Oregon. Sisters, elevation 3,100 feet, is located in western Deschutes County, just east of the Cascade Mountains in central Oregon. Once a lumber producing town, Sisters is now known as the Gateway to the Cascades. The downtown area has been transformed, and today Sisters is recognized as a unique place to shop with its many specialty stores and galleries.

Whether you enjoy rodeos, mountain climbing, fly fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, rafting, skiing or snowmobiling you'll find it in the Sisters area. For an escape to the Wild West, Sisters is the annual site of the PRCA sanctioned Sisters Rodeo. On the edge of town, the Deschutes National Forest offers a 1.6 million acre playground laced with miles and miles of trails, wet and wild rivers, and scenic drives and vistas. Fly fishermen will enjoy fishing on the Metolius River, home to rainbow trout, Dolly Varden (bull trout), and Kokane salmon. Hiking in the Three Sisters Wilderness Area is a scenic marvel. Lush alpine meadows and pristine lakes dot the landscape, and in early summer, beautiful wildflowers display a palette of nature's color. Golfers will be in paradise on the course at Black Butte Ranch. Just 10 miles west of Sisters, the Ranch features some of the best golfing in Oregon, surrounded by outstanding views of Black Butte and the Cascades.

Sisters' 1880's theme town charm offers a wide range of adventures and experiences for visitors. Visit Sisters, where old-fashioned hospitality lives on.

Colorful quilts and spectacular scenery featured in the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show makes the second Saturday in July a special day. In the early morning, the town blossoms with color as quilts are hung on storefronts.

At this one day only show, quilts festoon the outside of buildings all over town from 9:30 am to 5 pm in a celebration of the quilter's craft. During the week preceding the Saturday show, the quilts are on display in the sponsoring businesses. There are quilting classes, lectures and a raffle quilt.
