Blue Heron French Cheese Company

Blue Heron Cheese Company has been owned and operated by the Pastega family for over 25 years. It was originally known for producing French Brie, for which Tillamook's mild climate is ideally suited. Previously created on the premises, the brie is now produced in a plant in California using the Blue Heron recipe. The Blue Heron grounds are now used for the sale of over 120 wines, a variety of cheeses and samples of 100 different food products. There is a deli on-site where visitors can enjoy homemade lunch fare including salads, soups and sandwiches.

Blue Heron is housed in a white and blue Colonial style barn, built in the 1930's. On the green, sometimes marshy land outside the barn is a petting farm with a colorful assortment of grazing animals, everything from pheasants and guinea hens, to sheep, chicken, llamas and ponies. Located less than a mile away from the Tillamook Cheese factory, Blue Heron is visited by over 200,000 tourists a year. They have a knowledgeable and helpful staff that helps put together customized gift baskets. Blue Heron is open seven days a week. Their summer hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and their winter hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
